Gandhi Jayanthi Assembly – Garnet 1

The students of Garnet 1, standard 6-A, presented a special assembly to commemorate the birth anniversary of Gandhi on October 2nd 2024. The assembly provided an engaging and reflective tribute to the Father of our nation Gandhiji and his enduring legacy.

The assembly highlighted Gandhiji’s core beliefs in non-violence (ahimsa) and truth (satya).

A video of Gandhi Ji’s anecdote emphasizing the importance of self-reflection and the principle of leading by example was shared. This was followed by a stimulating skit that powerfully illustrated Gandhi’s philosophy of ,’Be the change you wish to see in the world.’ The skit’s message of initiating change through acts of kindness resonated deeply with the audience. A song about kindness further reinforced this message.

The assembly concluded with a reading from the Bible, Luke 6:31 and 35 (“Do to others as you would have them do to you”), and a closing prayer, connecting Gandhi’s teachings with universal principles of compassion and empathy.

The assembly was well-received by the school leadership. Sister Leela, Correspondent of The Church Park School, commended the students for their efforts and effective communication of the assembly’s message. Mrs. Asha, the Headmistress, further emphasized the key takeaways for the students. To further inspire the student body, Pragati K of Class 6-A, who had recently earned medals and certificates for her participation in the Madras District Association, was recognized and honoured on stage.
