The teachers had an orientation programme on 18th August 2024, at 08:00 am in the AV Room.

The session began with a prayer by the Faith committee. The meeting was organized as a booster for the ICSE teachers to understand and update themselves to the requirements of the CISCE Board. The meeting was conducted by Mrs. Annie Mohan. (Former Principal of Christwood School). She shared her personal experiences along with valuable information required while teaching the ICSE Curriculum.

She stressed the following best practices:

1. Uplifted teaching: Teach to serve. Teach – Love – Inspire. Set the Divine power as the ultimate.
Make a mission statement- be desperate to accomplish it.
2. Take responsibility.
3. Be accountable.
4. Obstacles are the order of the day and challenges have to be conquered.

She brought to light that ICSE schools follow the CISCE (Council for Indian School Certificate) Curriculum for the ICSE( Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) Examination. It was incepted in 1958.

This curriculum :

• Works as a transactional process till class 8
• Ensures that nurturing becomes successful learning.
• Develops the ability to apply core concepts in different areas.
• Helps in reading textbook only for knowledge.
• Nurtures responsible citizens who respect diversity and are sensitive to environmental issues.

The features of this Curriculum are:

• Theme based
• Child-centered
• Focuses on Experiences
• Sequential arranging of experiences
• Integrated approach
• Learning by Doing Approach
• Development of life skills- communication, critical thinking, decision making, and time management.

She asked the teachers to make sure they read the NEP and VISIT www.cisce.org for further information and any queries they have.
